09/27/2009

Still working on my reset. Went in to have some breakfast, it was amazingly good (or I was extremely hungry) for a Huddle House. About 9:30 called my folks they live about an hour from here and just thought I touch base and say hi. I don't call nearly enough. Anyway once they figured out where I was they were on the way so we could spend the day together and have a nice time. I had left the cell phone and didn't think to call and let my wife know so there was hell to pay once I got back. Having smoothed those choppy waters a little bit it was time to goto bed. Over slept about an hour but no worries there wasn't anyway I could be late.

Have a nice day

Lets see we left off at that crappy truckstop at x76 on I95 in GA El Cheapo Fuel. I guess there actually is a great deal in a name.

I took off and stop shortly for fuel it still dark 30 in the am. Top off my tanks. Went inside to trans-flo some paperwork. This place had a Sub-way and a Mcdonalds. Now its about 4am and the MickyDs was closed and the Subway open I thought that was wierd but who am I. So much for getting something to eat.

Made it to Laurinburg dropped my trailer and grabbed a shower. Decided to bob tail into town to restock at Walmart and return the Linksys NIC. It wasn't doing any better than the built in NIC and beside I got an ATT nic which can also receive regular wifi signals. So with $70 more than I planned (thought they would put the money back on my bankcard) I proceeded to purchase some supplies.

Have restocked the truck it was time to grab my load and see how far I could get with the pityful few hours I had left on my 70 hour clock. Made it up by Flecther Home, NC before I had to shut it down. There just inst a real good way to go through Charlotte when traveling east-west or west-east, but it being Saturday helped alot. The whole day was heavily overcast and misty or light rain from Laurinburg to here but It wasn't heavy enough to drive the 4 wheelers crazy. So it turned out to be a nice drive overall.

Tonights culinary choices include (drumroll please) Huddle House (greasy spoon on a regional scale) or Bojangles (all things chicken) hmmmm. Think I'll wait till I'm hungier then decide.

Have a good day

A quick run into Ft. Lauderdale. The consignee was just off a main drag so easy in and easy out.

The receiver was a nice guy overall, most are it seems in this particular industry. Got there about an hour early, wasn't sure how traffic was gonna be and I abhor being late. I even hate being later than I want to be at a destination. That gave me an hour to figure out how the hell I was gonna get this spread axle in that hole. I needn't have worried. An hour later he waved me over and guided me to a spot OUTSIDE the building Here comes the "Bill Engvall" moment. I stuck my head out the window as he was walking away and asked "You unloading me outside?". Now he had just guided me to this spot can you say "DUH". Well my only excuse was this was my first time unloading glass outside. A weak excuse at best but I'll take it.

After I spent the next 45 mins letting the tarps and securement kick my butt I was ready to be unloaded. They came out with a forklift with a cradle to unload the glass. Considering the surface they did an excellent job. I don't think there were many spots that were all that level. If I had to drive that forklift my rectal pucker factor would have been redlined for sure.

Having gotten empty and everything put away I sent in my empty call. Now I had been speculating what my load would be loads much less flatbed loads in this region being few and far in between. Five minutes later DH assignment came head to Lauringburg, NC. Sweet don't have to break down the glass racks! Got to El Cheapo Fuel just short of Savannah, GA. Thought I was hungry until I went in and took a look at that deli, what a rat hole. Well scratch that as a place to eat off the list and call it a night.

Have a good day

Smallville USA I found it

Here I sit in Moorehaven, Fl the net connection sucks here but what can you expect in a small town. Anyway had a real good day and left myself 90 miles to do by 8am tomorrow morning. Its a first come first serve facility so there's no telling what I'll encounter in the morning. And still no clue as to what I might be doing either so well just have to wait and see

On the way down got to run through the town I moved out of 10 or 11 years ago. Man what a difference 10 years can make. It got an Olive garden, Outback, Books-a-million etc etc. Along with that came a hundred stop lights but such is progress.

Have agood day

I was WRONG (lol)

I went to none of the afore mention places. I ended up going to Cosicana, Tx swapping trailers and doing a live load. Didn't get done till about 10:30 last night and I was wiped out when I finally got done. Securing and tarping a double drop or a flat bed is not worth the $20. A DGL or Sling pack trlr aren't to bad but still more work than I care for. Hit the sack and slept the sleep of the dead.

Took off this morning and took some back roads trying to cut some miles of the corner that I-45 and I-10 form north of Houston. Probrably would have made better time going almost to Houston and taking the by pass but I like taking back roads in some parts of the country. Texas being one of those places for sure. Pulled up just short of Mobile, Al for the night. Plan to get an earlier start tomorrow (3am cst) looking to try to get to Moorehaven, Fl tomorrow night. Here's what the tally will be for the week, unless I get a freaky load that unloads Saturday get anymore miles for this week is impossible. Not bad for just coming out of the house.

Lot of ditching going on today

It rained fairly lightly pretty much all day today. It was deer testerday and today it was vehicles. There was 5 or 6 cars today at various stages of disrepair in the ditched on one side of the road or another. A big truck also took a ride down into the median today and other than him(her) being in a ditch at least all 18 wheels were on the ground.

I called it a day at the flyng j in Jackson, MS just a stones throw from the consignee. Did the slop-the-hogs (buffet) at the flying J not too bad, but chinese would have hit the spot better.

Almost time to consider tomorrows possible destination. It's a three way split between Wichita Falls, TX (50%), Tulse, OK (30%), or drum roll Laurinburg, NC (20%). Well I'll know tomorrow. Have a good night.

New 2 week period

Took the wife out and generally had a very good time at home. Went and got the air card on Saturaday hope I don't come to regret the expense (but it is a write-off).

Got out of the house about 9am went over to the yard to get my load. Life lesson call the shipping office on Friday to get the trailer number. This way you don't have to spend 20 minutes looking at all the bills on all the trailer to find yours. (Grin). Anyway saw about 5 dead deer along side the highways today guess it tis be the season or close to it.

Made it to the 44 on I-20 and called it a day. Figure on rolling out about 4 or so in the morning. Here's the w/a so far this week.
